What to do in the West Island on Canada Day weekend

As we enter the countdown to the last days of June, it is now time to consider those Canada day weekend plans on the West Island. Here is a list of schedules and events planned by different municipals. Mark your calendars accordingly!


1. Pointe-Claire: July 1, from 2 to 10:30 p.m. (will be postponed to July 2 in case of rain)

Alexandre-Bourgeau Park: 2 Cartier Ave, Pointe-Claire, Quebec H9S 4P6


The celebration is open to the general public and intended for people of all ages. Some of the activities include:

  • Caricature

  • Photo Booth

  • Professional face painting

  • Concert & musical performance by Groove Affair

  • Musical cabaret

  • Magic show

  • Fireworks from a barge on Lake Saint-Louis

  • Discussion with city councilors (5 - 6 p.m.)

The City of Pointe-Claire also renews its Green Challenge by entering the first 100 people who used active transportation and mass transit to get to the festivities in a prize draw. A water station will also be available - Bring your own reusable water bottle!


Cartier Avenue from Lanthier Avenue to Du Bord-du-Lac – Lakeshore Road will be closed to traffic on the day of the celebration (Friday, July 1, or July 2 in case of rain) from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a detour via Lanthier and De Lourdes Avenues and Du Bord-du-Lac ― Lakeshore Road for road users.


2. Beaconsfield: July 1, from 1 to 10 p.m.

Centennial Park: 288, boulevard Beaconsfield, Beaconsfield, Quebec H9W 4A4


In case of rain: 1 to 6 p.m. at the Recreation Centre, 1974 City Lane.

Fireworks will be postponed to Saturday, July 2 at Centennial Park, at 9:30 p.m.


General activities include:

  • Inflatable games

  • Face painting

  • Fireworks

  • Airbrush tattoos

  • Street entertainers

  • Science workshops

  • Arts & crafts workshops

  • Yoga

  • Snow cones

  • Street food trucks

There will also be musical and artistic performances including :

  • Concert: Eric Calder

  • Circus workshop: Le Gros Orteil

  • Mystical Curiosities by Illuzaö

  • Discover the Slackline

  • Dance with Break City

  • Montreal Bluegrass League

  • Pyro Kabaret

3. Pierrefonds-Roxboro: Consult this article for details

  • June 30, from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

  • July 1, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.

    • Canada Day parade: from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

    • Pop-up shows:

      • 1:30 to 2:00 p.m.: Grier Park

      • 2:45 to 3:15 p.m.: Parc Cyril-W.-McDonald

      • 4:15 to 4:45 p.m.: Cloverdale Park

  • July 2, from 12:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

  • July 3, from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

4. Dorval: July 1, from 12 to 10:30 p.m.

The Dorval Canada Day celebration will offer a grand variety of activities and performances including:

  • Outdoor activities, roaming entertainment, inflatable games, escape games, temporary tattoos, and more…

  • Circus show with “The Cousins”

  • Demonstration by Studio de danse Imperium

  • Musical performance by the Beach Bums (Beach Boys cover band)

  • Musical performance by Étienne Drapeau

  • Grandiose fireworks

Food trucks and local associations will be on-site to offer food and alcohol-free beverages.


★ The city will also offer a Free Shuttle Service with the following stops from 3 p.m. to the end of the event, once approximately every 30 minutes:

  • The parking lot at Walters Park (corner of Dawson Avenue and Pine Beach Boulevard)

  • Surrey Aquatic and Community Centre (1945 Parkfield Avenue)

  • Dorval Aquatic and Sports Complex (1295 Dawson Avenue)

  • Millennium Park (corner of Keller Circle and Sévigny Avenue)

5. Dollard-des-Ormeaux: July 1, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. (July 2 in case of rain)

Civic center: 12001 Salaberry Blvd, Dollard-Des Ormeaux, Quebec H9B 2A7


Activities offered at the event include:

  • Inflatable games

  • Temporary tattoos

  • Nerfs combats

  • Speedy shoes

  • Arts and crafts

  • Sports

Performances and shows on stage feature the following artists:

  • Ben the magician (Katomix)

  • Missy and the Mother Truckers

  • Buffalo Hat Singer

  • Becket Players

Fireworks are scheduled for 10 p.m.

6. Lachine: July 1, from 8 - 10:30 p.m.
