Road CLOSURE in Pierrefonds-Roxboro

As of this evening, May 3rd, Boulevard Lalande, between rue Dollard and Des Anciens-Combattants Park, will be closed and only accessible to local traffic, as the water levels remain elevated.

Pierrefonds-Roxboro: Wednesday, May 3rd

Mayor Jim Beis reassured residents this evening at around 5:30 that water levels are meant to remain stable over the next 2-3 days. However, he is inviting each resident in a vulnerable flood zone to remain vigilant and stay informed regularly. Those who are in need of sandbags or are willing to volunteer their time to help out the community can reach out to benoit.langevin@montreal.ca. Residents in flood-prone areas can take the following actions:

  • Install a sump-type submersible pump (or make sure yours is working properly) and a backflow preventer in the basement.

  • Keep water from the gutters away from your home and aim it in the opposite direction or the direction away from your house.

The water levels are still of concern, and the coming days will be critical in terms of protecting communities at risk of flooding. He thanked the workers who are implementing and reinforcing preventative measures. Mounting dykes is a danger, he warned and asked residents to avoid flooded areas.
