Cunningham's Pub in Sainte-Anne-De-Bellevue announced yesterday that it will be closing its doors to the public on November 11th from 11 am to 3 pm.

In a post made to Facebook, owner Jim Beauchamp stated "We have the distinct honor in serving the men & women from the Ste Anne de Bellevue Veterans Hospital for lunch."

Beauchamp's partner, Bob McEwen has always been involved with the veterans of the community, as well as with the liaison office at the Veterans Hospital in Sainte-Anne's. McEwen also organizes the famous Remembrance Day Ceremony which is held annually at John Abbot College.

This year, Cunningham's was delighted to oblige when asked to cook 130 fish and chip meals and 20 additional meals for the patients and staff of the hospital.

Beauchamp was clear in explaining that the pub will be compensated by the hospital for the meals they will be delivering.

The meals will be delivered in stages by the hospital floor, so as to ensure adherence to all COVID-19 safety measures and guidelines.

"With the strict protocols still in place we deliver to the door and the staff brings it to the patients."

Community members were quick to respond with their support and admiration of the initiative. The pub's Facebook comments were flooded with support and appreciation.

"We are incredibly proud that we were asked to do this, and that we have the opportunity to bring some joy for the day."
