The Alliance of 2nd Stage Shelters for Women and Children Victims of Spousal Abuse Launches "Neighborhood Against Spousal and Family Violence" Campaign
In the context of COVID-19 and the resulting confinement, the Alliance of 2nd stage shelters for women and children victims of conjugal violence is launching a general public campaign to encourage everyone to report situations of domestic and family violence. Posters in about 20 languages, listing contact information for several help resources, will be widely distributed today. They will be available on social media as well as in places still accessible to the population, throughout Quebec.
Help resources available 24/7
In addition to 911, each poster will display the coordinates of various help resources available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, namely: SOS domestic violence, Association québécoise de prevention du suicide et Tel-jeunes. There will also be a space for contacting more targeted resources in regions across the province, such as shelters that are starting to operate online services through Facebook Messenger, among others.
Saving Lives: Everyone's Responsibility
In this time of health crisis, too many women and children victims of violence find themselves trapped in their homes and cannot access assistance resources. This difficult reality prompts the Alliance, its members and its partners to appeal for the solidarity of all Quebecers and to also hang posters on their windows. The message also takes up a rainbow, a symbol of hope. Citizens are therefore encouraged to take action to save lives, such as calling emergency services if a situation alerts them.
The display is also desired in the various housing resources, hence the importance of support from municipalities.
Mobilization at all times
More than ever, all members of the Alliance and their colleagues in the emergency shelter community for victims of domestic violence are hard at work to ensure the physical security of women and children in care in the context of a pandemic. Note that all measures are taken to strictly follow the directives emanating from public security.

In a spirit of cooperation, the Alliance of 2nd stage shelters for women and children victims of conjugal violence brings together and represents 23 shelters located in 12 regions of Quebec that offer specialized services in post-separation conjugal violence, hosting more 450 women at risk of spousal homicide and their children.
