The Neighbourhood Market’s last day of the season is Wednesday

The Table de Quartier Sud de l'Ouest-de-l'Île (TQSOI) is thrilled to invite the Pointe-Claire and larger West Island community to their final market day of the season on Wednesday, October 12th, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the parking lot of the Bob-Birnie Arena. This market, in collaboration with Corbeille de Pain, is a solidarity market that provides local produce at a fair price, with the aim of increasing people's physical and economic access to fresh fruits and vegetables.

So far this season, the market has attracted an average of 117 clients per day, and as many are expected to celebrate their last day. In addition, the market would like to acknowledge the visits from several city councilors and elected officials to learn about this community initiative.

To increase economic access to local produce, the TQSOI market has a pay-what-you-can model. At the market, all prices are suggested, meaning shoppers who need to pay a bit less can, and those that can pay more can round up their bill. Shoppers who spend more than the suggested price create a balance so their neighbors can pay less. Moreover, the market is located a short distance from a number of seniors residences, giving seniors access to fresh produce close to home.

The TQSOI is thankful for continued funding from la Direction régionale de santé publique (DRSP) for this initiative and support from the City of Pointe-Claire. This market is a success thanks to our local farmers.
