The Lakeshore General Hospital is Collecting Change for Change to the Emergency Department.

On Saturday, June 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Foundation and teams of volunteers will be collecting money from motorists in the parking lots of West Island shopping centres. All funds raised during this event called “Change for Change” will be used to improve the Lakeshore General Hospital’s Emergency Department. The Foundation is calling on the population to drive, bike or walk to the following locations and give change for change to the Emergency Department:
  • In Dorval: at the intersection of Dorval and Carson avenues, near Les Jardins Dorval shopping centre

  • In Dollard-des-Ormeaux: at Centennial Plaza, Galeries des Sources and Marché de l’Ouest

  • In Pierrefonds: at Club Piscine Super Fitness

  • In Pointe-Claire: at Plaza Pointe-Claire and Complexe Pointe-Claire (near Maxi)

  • In Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue: in front of the fire station, des Anciens-Combattants Blvd.

The Foundation hopes to raise at least $25,000 on this day, which is the first step in this $150,000 project. The Lakeshore General Hospital’s Emergency Department is a crucial hub for the region, receiving close to 45,000 visits per year. People come from all over the West Island and Suroît; in fact, between Hawkesbury and the heart of Montreal, there is no other emergency department. As a result of all this traffic, the waiting room is now in dire need of refurbishing and modernization. This project also includes the transformation of the family room into a warm and comforting space, as well as improvements to the employee break room to provide a well-deserved rest. A visit to the emergency room is never a pleasant moment, but this investment will ensure maximum comfort for patients and their loved ones. The Foundation is counting on the support of the community to rally behind its cause and give generously. Improving the Emergency Department will benefit everyone!
