The city of Baie-D’urfé announced that they will be rebuilding their Town Hall on Lakeshore Rd. The project will cost an estimated 2.8 million dollars. According to Mayor Heidi Ektvedt, the current structure does not have the same functionality as it did when it was first donated to the town of Baie-D’urfé in 1912, and a rebuild is necessary.

The renovations will restore the grand room, which remains unused, as well as the entire exterior. A new structure called a double gambrel will be built, replacing the annex, which is set to be demolished. The parking lot will also be renovated, however, all trees will be preserved.

Unfortunately, some residents are concerned that the 2.8 million dollar estimate won’t be enough to cover the entire construction. According to the project’s architect Gavin Affleck, the pandemic has created an irregularity in the prices, which could affect the final cost.

The project is set to begin next fall and will take about a year to complete. Employees currently working at the Town Hall will be relocated.
