Anyone who lives in Quebec can call Info‑Social 811 for themselves, a family member, or even a friend.

Info‑Social 811 service professionals are able to give advice and answer questions about psychosocial issues. If needed, they can refer you to an appropriate resource in the health and social services network or to a community resource.

Here are some examples of situations when you can call Info‑Social 811 according to the Government of Quebec:

  • You have questions about other worrisome situations or behaviors.

What happens when you call Info‑Social 811

A call involves 3 or 4 steps depending on your needs. The psychosocial worker will:

  1. collect some personal information from you, with your permission;

  2. assess your needs;

  3. respond to your needs;

  4. refer you to an appropriate resource, if necessary.

Assessment of your needs The psychosocial worker will listen to you and ask you questions about your situation. They will collect the information they need to fully understand your needs and to clarify your request. Then they will assess the situation to determine the immediate problem(s), the urgency of the situation, and the appropriate response.

Response to your needs The psychosocial worker may give you information and advice about what you should do to monitor your situation and improve your condition. If you are in a crisis situation, the psychosocial worker may decide to send someone to your location to assist you immediately. If necessary, the psychosocial worker will refer you to a resource (for example, a crisis shelter) where you can receive the services you need.
