According to mayor John Belvedere, this is long overdue.
The city of Pointe-Claire continues to fight hard for the restoration of its famous windmill, which was damaged during a windstorm in 2019.
The city council has sent a request to the Provincial Government to help push the project to protect and repair the windmill.
The land in which the windmill stands is owned by the Catholic Archdiocese, who claim to be in the process of studying the situation. According to Pointe-Claire Mayor John Belvedere, the city is very close to an agreement with the diocese which would give them the proper access to do the necessary repairs.
The windmill has been a staple of Pointe-Claire’s heritage, however over time, it has felt the effects of its old age, with plans to restore it being discussed prior to 2019’s windstorm.
If approved, Mayor Belvedere would like the work to begin before winter.
