Pedestrian hit by train in Beaconsfield Friday

According to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) a female pedestrian aged 81 years old was hit by a Canadian National (CN) train on Friday in Beaconsfield. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. at the Beaurepaire (Woodland) station.

The lady was walking north on Woodland Avenue, and for some unknown reason, she was on the tracks as the locomotive approached, despite the alarms going off. The collision occurred even though all signals were functioning correctly at the corner of Elm and Woodland avenues.

The reasons she chose to cross are unknown, and an investigation by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) is underway, supported by the CN police. The octogenarian was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, and she was still in critical condition at the time of this publication.

A security perimeter has been erected on Woodland and Elm avenues, and the Highway 20 exit at this location was closed for part of the evening.
