Every year since 2000, Pantone, a professional color-matching company has highlighted a color of the year. The tradition has become popular amongst audiences far and wide, and many often count down the days for the color's release.
Last year, as the pandemic raged on, the color of the year was announced to be PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue. "Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlighted Pantone's desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we crossed the threshold into a new era" (SOURCE).
In light of tightening restrictions and heightened business closures, it's difficult not to think that the definition of last year's color of the year did not age all that well.
Nevertheless, with 2022 on the horizon, it is time to launch a new color, in the hopes of change, progress, and optimism.
2022 is a special year at Pantone, as it is the first year that the company has created a color specifically to fill the role of "color of the year". The color, which has been named "Very Peri"(Pantone 17-3938) encourages courageousness and creativity.

Selecting (or creating) the color of the year is an intense labor of love and trend analysis. Every year, color experts at Pantone scan the worlds of interior, digital, and fashion design for the latest trends.
"Rekindling gratitude for some of the qualities that blue represents complemented by a new perspective that resonates today, Pantone 17-3938 Very Peri places the future ahead in a new light." (SOURCE)
With tighter restrictions and stricter distancing measures upon us, we all need a little "Very Peri" in our lives. With so many forms of communication put on hold, now more than ever we are connecting in innovative ways, one of which, is color. The complexity of this new red violet-infused blue hue highlights the expansive possibilities that lay before us.
