Obituary for the late Mrs. Marjorie Martin

It is with great sadness that the family of Marjorie May (Marge) Martin announces her sudden passing on May 17th, 2022, in her 84th year. Marge was born in Pense, Saskatchewan on November 23, 1938. She grew up in Montreal, where she lived with her mother Jean, and graduated in 1956 from Mount Royal High School. It was in Montreal that she met her husband, James (Jim) Martin and they married on October 4th, 1958.


At the time of her death, she was a longtime resident of Pointe-Claire, Quebec, where she and Jim raised four children and had many friends. Marge was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who was also a very active member of the community. Sometimes known as Bubbles or Brown Owl, Marge devoted her time to many community organizations, including Scouts Canada, Girl Guides of Canada, the Pointe-Claire Soccer and Ringette Associations, St. John’s United Church, and West Island Citizen Advocacy.


Marge was also active in the senior's community, playing bridge and bingo, quilting, knitting, crafting, and having Zoom meetings with friends. She was known for her great sense of humour, her wonderful laugh, and her positive outlook. She was always smiling and happy

Marge and Jim enjoyed travel and spending time with family and friends. She will be sorely missed by many people, especially her family.


Marge is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, James Martin, and her four children Colleen (Steve), Lesli (Peter), Brent (Mary Jo), and Wayne (Nancy). She will also be missed by her grandchildren Shannon and Dylan; Sydney (Tomas) and Adam; Samuel (Pam), Jacob and Myah; and Jack and Maggie, and her great-grandchildren Ariana, Athena, and Cécilia. She was predeceased by her mother Jean Ferguson and two dear aunts, Margaret Boyd (nee Ferguson) and Claire Matheson (nee Ferguson), and her favorite cousin Bill Boyd.


Visitation will take place at Rideau Funeral Home (4275 boul des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC) on Monday, May 23rd from 9 am to 10 am followed by a memorial service at 10 am.
