With the ongoing uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, it can be difficult to know which resources to turn to. As the end of the school year approaches, you may be wondering what services are available for you and your children given the current state of the world.

West Island News has compiled a list of day camps that are gearing up for the 2021 season. We know your child’s passions and interests are unique, and we are confident that this list caters to their individuality and strengths.

The city of Kirkland is offering a variety of day camp programs to its residents this summer. The camp, which caters to children between the ages of 5 and 14 offers a multitude of activities from cooperative games, sports, theme days, workshops, and special guests. It will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and offer daycare hours both in the mornings and evenings. The city is running 8 weekly sessions from June 28th to August 20th.

Do be sure to check out their counselor-in-training program for children aged 15+ where young teens can learn the skills and strategies needed to one day be a camp counselor.

YMCA PIERREFONDS-ROXBORO

This summer, the YMCAs of Quebec have collaborated with the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro and are offering day camp services in 3 local parks (Grier Park, George-Springate Park, D’À-Ma-Baie Park). Outdoor activities will be prioritized, however, indoor accommodations are in place in the event of rain.

Focused on “building self-confidence and self-reliance, encouraging healthy lifestyle habits and fostering a sense of community” in all its campers, the YMCA combines physical activity, creative arts, culture, decision-making, and problem-solving in a carefully curated program that values inclusivity for children of all backgrounds, abilities, and walks of life.

With Junior, Middle, and Senior programs, the camp caters to children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old.
