Have you been wanting to help those most affected by COVID-19, but haven’t quite been able to figure out the logistics? Lucky for you, and those in need, The September 13th Miracle food drive has taken the steps for you. This selfless initiative is for the people, by the people. It consists of you and me, West Islanders, Montrealers, and simply downright amazing human beings. This Miracle belongs to each and every one of us trying to make a difference in today's society.
The West Island Community has never before faltered in times of distress, and the current adversity we are facing is no different. We will band together to get through this along with anything else 2020 happens to throw our way. Let’s stand tall with the entire Island of Montreal on Sunday, September 13th at 12pm noon. That’s right, this grassroots initiative is asking every last resident in all boroughs and suburbs on, and around, the Island of Montreal to drop a non-perishable food item on your doorstep to be collected by a local hero. “Can I still participate if I live in an apartment building?” Don’t worry! You can leave your donation in the lobby and it will be collected. More information and recommendations on what can be donated can be found here. Keep in mind, the only way that this will work is if we get the word out. Which is why I am challenging you right here, right now to scream it from the rooftops! Maybe not literally, unless that’s your thing, then go for it. In all seriousness, this one day of action has the potential to uplift the lives of SO MANY people who are counting on their communities. We don’t want to let them down so let’s make sure that we tell every single person, who we can get to listen, about how we are going to make Montreal shine with kindness on Sunday, September 13th at noon. Let’s show the world what Montrealers can do when we come together!
