Montreal Sock It To Me's 6th Campaign

Montreal Sock It To Me is an annual sock drive run by Stepping Up Montreal for St. Michael's Mission in downtown Montreal. This grassroots initiative is in its 6th campaign and runs from November 1 to 30 this year.

Clean, dry socks are essential to the wellbeing of the most vulnerable members of the community, especially in the cold winter months. The gesture of donating a new pair of socks can make a significant difference in someone else’s life and can help to bring them some warmth and comfort in troubled times.

This year’s goal is to collect 3000 pairs of new socks, but the team is hoping to beat last year’s total of 5804 pairs! Once all donations are collected, Christensen then delivers them to St. Michael’s Mission for them to distribute those in need. He said the sock supply should be enough to be stretched over the next few cold winter months.

“The November sock drive is a great event for schools, companies, and Scouting type organizations. You are making a direct impact on your community and helping those less fortunate,” reads the organization's Facebook page.

Barry Christensen started Montreal Sock It To Me to give clean, dry socks to those in need during the harsh winter months. He collaborates with St. Michael's Mission, a not for profit independent agency that works directly with the poor and homeless in Montreal's downtown core. He is hoping that people in other provinces and areas will catch on and adopt their Sock It To Me Campaigns! He stresses that it’s never too early to start collecting or planning.

If you can, please consider donating some new socks to Montreal Sock It To Me. Together, Montrealers can uplift one another's spirit and spread warmth, hope, and kindness to those who may need it most.
