Meet this month's featured Animatch adoptees

There are always pups in need of a place to call home, and a family to love them. Animatch has been placing dogs in their fur-ever homes since 1999. For more information on Praline, Ozzy, Brandi, Jeffrey, or any of the other dogs available for adoption, go to www.animatch.ca

PRALINE-FEMALE-COCKER SPANIEL, 7 1/2 YEARS OLD.

Praline is a sweet and gentle former breeding dog. She's a little shy but is coming out of her shell. There's a lot to learn, but she's catching on. She's now clean in her cage, although you might expect a few accidents before she really gets the hang of toilet training. With some practice, Praline will soon be walking by your side with her ears flapping in the breeze. She gets along with other dogs and would probably enjoy living with a well-balanced sibling. Obedience classes would boost her confidence and help her become the best dog she can be. She needs human companionship, so she shouldn't be alone for too many hours.

OZZY-FEMALE-NORDIC MIX-1 1/2 YEARS OLD

Ozzy was adopted as a pup in the summer of 2021, and returned in December of last year. She's quite a handful, and has been at École de formation des intervenants canins du Québec since then. She has come a very long way and is now ready to move on to her new and last forever home. Izzy is a HIGH ENERGY dog who still plays like a puppy. She's a bull-in-a-china shop kind of girl. She loves squeaky toys, singing, and has the occasional attack of the zoomies. Ozzy is looking forward to hiking, skijoring, winter camping, and any activity you can think of. Because of her resource guarding, she must be your only pet. Ozzy is waiting with baited breath to join you on your adventures.

BRANDI-FEMALE- CHOCOLATE LAB-4 1/2 YEARS OLD

Brandi was an outdoor dog in Chisisabi, but her family felt that she belonged inside. She loves people and has never met a stranger. She gets along with other dogs but would be just as happy as your one and only. She doesn't care for cats. After she has settled in, obedience classes are a must. Brandi needs long walks every day, but right now, she's dragging the volunteer humans behind her. She will require medication called phenylpropanolamine for the rest of her life. It isn't expensive and prevents incontinence when she's sleeping or relaxed. Brandi is waiting impatiently for the humans who will be as loyal to her as she will be to them.

JEFFREY-MALE-MIXED BREED (DOMINICAN REPUBLIC) 1 YEAR OLD

Jeffrey came from the Dominican Republic with Ella, his mom. They were together through thick and thin but it's time for Mom to cut the cord. Jeffrey is extremely shy and distrustful of people. Under the nervousness, we can see the lovable boy who's just dying to break through. He's waiting for the right family to help him find his courage. He needs an experienced family who will socialize him with people and other dogs. After a time, obedience classes would boost his confidence. A securely fenced yard is a must as he is a flight risk and would be very difficult to catch. Another well-balanced dog who could show him the ropes would be great. Jeffrey requires love, patience and dedication to help him relax enough to enjoy the life that's awaiting him just around the corner.
