Habs are doing it for Jake Evans, who will be out with a concussion.
The Montreal Canadiens look to take a 2-0 series lead on the Winnipeg Jets tonight at 7:30. This marks the first game since Jet’s forward Mark Scheifele’s devastating hit on Jake Evans. While Scheifele received a four-game suspension, Habs fans want to see justice on the ice in the form of winning.
Following Wednesday’s game, Habs coach Dominique Ducharme announced that Jake Evans had been diagnosed with a concussion and will be out indefinitely. This is extremely concerning news, as not only is Evans an incredibly important piece to the Canadiens, but he also has a history with concussions. In 2018, he had to be taken off the ice by a stretcher after taking a hit from Belleville Senators forward Jonathan Aspirot in an AHL game. Last year, he was sidelined with an injury during the post-season after being hit by Pittsburgh Penguins forward Brandon Tanev. Evans also missed a few games in the first round against Toronto due to an injury.
The fans, as well as Jake’s teammates, hope that he can make a speedy recovery. Although it is unlikely that he will return for the playoffs, the Habs know that they have to win the series for him.
The player taking Evan’s place in the lineup is yet to be announced. Many speculate that it will be Artturi Lehkonen, who plays a similar role to Jake Evans.
