The McCord Museum in downtown Montreal is opening a new fashion exhibit called Parachute: Subversive Fashion of the '80s. It will feature the creations of Montreal-based brand Parachute by designers Nicola Pelly and Harry Parnass. The show will be open from November 19, 2021, to April 24, 2022.

Parachute gained recognition in the ’80s after opening its first store in New York City. The brand features androgynous clothing with avant-garde styling and can be seen worn by popular figures, Madonna, Duran Duran, and Stevie Wonder.

Created in 1977, Parachute was seen as an inspiration for the changing times and new genre of fashion in the 1980s. Even though they gained much success around the world, the headquarters remained in its originating city of Montreal.

The McCord Museum is located at 690 Sherbrooke St W, Montreal, Quebec H3A 1E9 with an admission fee of $19.
