A holiday tradition will look a little different this year: Here’s everything you need to know about Pointe-Claire’s tree lighting ceremony

The city of Pointe-Claire’s famous holiday tradition is back again for another year, but with certain adjustments to prioritize the health and safety of citizens.

The live event will be held this Thursday, November 25th at 6:00 pm on the corner of Bord-Du-Lac Lakeshore Road and Cartier Avenue.

Due to ongoing health measures, registration to attend the live event is required. The site – where the Christmas tree and ice rink are located – can host a total of 400 people. 350 can experience the ceremony on the site, and an additional 50 can lace up and take part in the event from the ice rink. Skaters will be given a space where they can sit and put on and remove their ice skates.

The event site will open to those who have registered as of 5:00 pm, and the ceremony is set to begin at 6:00 pm.

Proof of vaccination is required for all those attending in person over the age of 13. Photo ID is required for all participants 16 years of age and older.

Masks are required for the entirety of the in-person event.

If you prefer to stay in your jammies and enjoy the Christmas cheer from the comfort of your own home, now you can!

“So that as many people as possible can enjoy the event, those who cannot be on-site can watch the show and the lighting of the tree live on the City of Pointe-Claire’s Facebook page starting at 6 p.m.” (SOURCE)
