"Course pour la Compassion" is returning to raise funds for West Island palliative care.

The Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence's 7th Annual Course pour la Compassion is set for Saturday, September 23rd, in Valois Park, Pointe-Claire. The Course is a fun, family-oriented 1 km and 5 km Walk/Run, open to all ages and fitness levels. There will be a Party Zone at the end of the finish line, complete with activities and entertainment for the whole family.

The event has had tremendous success in raising awareness for quality end-of-life care and funds. Last year, the run raised $186,400 net towards free-of-charge palliative care services. Since opening its doors in 2002, they have welcomed over 5,300 patients and more than 20,000 loved ones. The Residence celebrated 20 years last September and re-opened its new facility that accommodates 23 beds.

The Residence's mission has remained unchanged, as re-iterated by Executive Director Dale Weil at their 20th anniversary:

"We may not add days to life, but we most certainly add life to days. Families and patients tell us how special and helpful the time spent at the Residence is for them, accomplishing many last wishes there."
