Canadians guide to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics

The Winter Olympics opening ceremony is today (Friday, February 4, 2022) and here is everything you need to know about our Canadians in the Olympics!


This year the Winter Olympics will take place in Beijing starting from February 4th until the 20th. The athletes, coaches, and officials will be staying at 3 Olympic villages; the Yanqing Olympic Village, the Beijing Olympic Village, and the Zhangjiakou Olympic Village.


Athletes from all across the world will be competing for gold. The sports consist of Alpine Skiing, Curling, Biathlon, Luge, Ski Jumping, Figure Skating, Bobsleigh, Cross-Country Skiing, Freestyle Skiing, Ice Hockey, Nordic Combined, Short Track Speed Skating, Skeleton, Speed Skating and lastly Snowboard.


There will be 215 athletes representing Canada in this year's Olympics. 57 of those athletes are from Quebec. If you want to see the list of all the Canadian athletes visit https://olympic.ca.


Two athletes from Quebec have been chosen to be the flag-bearers at the Olympic opening ceremony! Charles Hamelin a short-track speed skater and Marie Philipe Poulin a Women's hockey player. This will be Hamelin's fifth Olympics and Poulin's fourth.
