BREAKING: Christian Dubé announces more closures for the holidays

Québec has broken another record today with over 4500 new cases of Covid-19. Christian Dubé and the Legault government held a press conference today at 1 pm.

The National Director of Public Health, Horacio Arruda, and the Director of the Quebec Vaccination Campaign, Daniel Paré, the Minister of Health and Social Services, Christian Dubé, made several important announcements regarding the rise of the Omicron variant.

The government was not happy with the announcements of the "last dance parties" that happened at several bars. Starting at 5 pm this evening bars, cinemas, casinos, concert halls, gyms and spas (except for personal care) will be closed.

Restaurants will remain open, but opening hours are being reduced. Restaurant owners will have to close their establishments at 10 p.m. for the holiday season.

High Schools and elementary schools will start their winter break tonight and will not return to in-person classes until January 10th. Teachers will have to do online classes until the return of in-person learning. Elementary schools that are distributing self-tests and vaccines will be the only schools accessible at this time.

Christian Dubé says that testing centres are being overwhelmed and asks that they should only be used for those who are experiencing Covid-19 symptoms. The testings centres are not to be used for those who are asymptotic and want to gather with their families.

Anyone who tests positive for Covid-19 must isolate and inform anyone whom they have recently been in contact with since the staff at the testing centres are swamped.
