3 Takeout Favourites You Can Cook At Home

The fast-food industry is often blamed for many things, from adding unhealthy ingredients to its recipes to creating waste. If you enjoy takeout foods, but you don’t want the "extras", you can choose to cook at home.

At first glance, you may think that it would be hard work for you to put together the same recipes you can order from restaurants and fast food places over the phone. But that’s definitely not the case. There are many recipes you can make at home, and that without worrying about not knowing what goes in the food delivered to your door.

1. Spinach wraps

Wraps are tasty, filling, and they offer a good dose of protein to take you through the day. However, the spinach wraps fast food places provide as a healthy alternative to other dishes can still be high in sodium, which is the number one reason why you should ditch them.

To make spinach wraps, you will need whole wheat tortillas, mushrooms, fresh spinach, feta cheese, pepper, eggs, and dried tomatoes. For one wrap, you will need to slice one or two mushrooms that you should sauté on a grill with a bit of pepper. Add about one pound of spinach, and, after a bit, a whisked egg. This way, you made some scrambled eggs with a delicious composition.

Warm a tortilla in the oven, and then assemble the wrap by placing the scrambled egg in the middle surrounded by two teaspoons of feta cheese and around one tablespoon of dried tomatoes.

2. Delicious burgers

If there is one particular food that must be on top of the list when it comes to recipes you can make and eat fast, that should be the world-famous burger. However, the much-appreciated takeout favorite also has a reputation for being a source of unhealthy fats and sodium.

Cooking your own burgers at home overrides this problem without a doubt. The great news is that the burger recipe is among the simplest you can make. You need a pound of lean ground beef for four burgers. Salt, pepper, and half a pound of mushrooms should also be on your grocery list. Get four hamburger buns, as well as mustard, ketchup, pickles, and tomatoes.

Not all the latter ingredients are needed since you can make your burgers just as you want them. However, they are the most common, so take your pick. Mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, and finely chopped mushrooms. Create four patties from it and then cook them in a skillet on both sides. Assemble them using the buns and the toppings of your choice, and you have perfect burgers you can eat at home.

3. Fried chicken with Korean flavour

What could be tastier and easier to make than fried chicken? Many people’s favorite takeout dish, it is something you can cook at home, headache-free. Of course, knowing a few things about how restaurants can make fried chicken taste so good will help. That is why this recipe is designed to help you achieve the perfect taste you are after.

Here is an idea on how to make sweet and spicy chicken wings. For the recipe, you will need as many chicken wings as you think you and your family will eat, vegetable oil that will be used for frying, salt and pepper, soy sauce, and sugar. If you have a tool perfect for potato chips, don’t forget to use it to make a side dish fast, in case you feel like it would work well with your fried chicken.

Pour two cups of vegetable oil into a pot and place it over medium heat on your cooktop. Season the chicken wings with salt and pepper and then fried them for a few minutes in oil. Turn them on both sides and wait for them to become brown.

Make the sauce from three tablespoons of sugar and half a cup of soy sauce. Heat the two ingredients in a small pan over medium heat. Let it thicken a little – the process shouldn’t take more than two or three minutes. Glaze the chicken wings with this sweet sauce and serve them.
