$208,503.85 raised towards West Island cancer support services.

The West Island Cancer Wellness Centre has been a registered charity since 2008, and the Kirkland-based centre has been a haven for cancer patients and their loved ones ever since. All of their programs and services are tailored to Psychosocial cancer care to complement traditional medical practices. Some free-of-charge activities offered include art therapy,

reflexology, yoga, and remote counseling, including the Chit Chat program that gives participants a moment to chat with McGill medical students.

The centre's outreach has surpassed the West Island; their virtual Cancer Wellness programming is remote and open to all Canadians living with cancer. In 2022, they launched their rural Canada and Indigenous outreach to expand their remote network further.

“Challenge of the Brave,” held on April 29, 2023, at Parc des Bénévoles in Kirkland, raised a staggering $208,503.85 towards their cancer support programs and services! The fundraiser was based on the concept of the Amazing Race, and teams competed in 10 challenges at different locations around the West Island. Raffle prizes, a DJ, and a BBQ awaited the participants at the finish line! Each team raised a minimum of $1000 to qualify.
